Exclusive Fuji Island Getaway

The Republic of the Fiji Islands is an archipelago of 322 small islands in the Pacific Ocean. Only about 106 of those islands are permanently inhabited, the rest are too low to the sea level to be hospitable for human existence. This island nation in the south of the Pacific Ocean has two big islands where 87% of its population live. Its total population is less than 500,000 souls but it has a very robust tourism industry. The main islands are called Viti Levu and Vanua Levu with the largest city of Suva as its capital.

Fijians are fierce warriors in ancient times, even resorting to head-hunting and cannibalism to ward off its enemies. Surprisingly enough, Fijians are good boat-builders but very poor sailors because they lack the necessary navigational equipment. However, they were able to travel vast distances in the Pacific Ocean in earlier times. It has contributed Fijian troops to U.N. Peacekeeping missions worldwide but it has experienced political instability due to several coups lately. Most Fijians are of Indian or Sri Lankan descent, hence Hinduism is prevalent in this island republic.
